Life can be unexpected in all kinds of ways, but one thing people always want to rely on is the fact that someone will always be there to help guide them through this roller-coaster of life. Usually, people think of this person as a family member or a friend, but I am talking about the medical professionals that we rely on. Whether we rely on them for mental health, physical health, or just to be there when we're going through a rough time, we need our healthcare professionals. So why do we always dread scheduling an appointment with our primary care physician when they play a vital role in our lives?

According to Dr. Maya Artandi, a professor of primary care and population health at Stanford University, one of the leading causes for the refusal to regularly visit their primary care physician would be financial reasons. Nearly 67% of adults in the US suffer from the deprivation of their access to healthcare for one of two reasons:
A) They are unable to afford an appointment due to the lack of insurance
B) They fail to understand the jargon (specialty-based vocab) of Insurance and therefore fail at choosing an insurance that works best for them and their lifestyle.
What is the Goal?
The most important aspect of medicine is preventative care, meaning catching it before it develops into something worse. However, due to the lack of efficiency in our insurance systems, we find ourselves unable to rely on physicians to guide us during our medical journey. Therefore, while we cannot change the values of the insurance companies overnight, the goal of this website and these blogs will be to inform patients how to effectively choose and use the insurance that meets their needs, give tips and tricks to pay less for medical care (regardless of insurance status) and provide the latest news in the medical world.
Call to Action!
It is time we take control of our health and our lives. It is time to build a relationship with our providers to help ourselves better our quality of life and better the quality of life for people around us. It is time to manage our health.
